January 2007; as well as the recently announced St. Regis
luxury resort to be built in Nusa Dua.
Marriott opens its flagship Renaissance Resort, the first
in Asia, at the end of the year. Located on the Nusa Dua
beachfront, the Renaissance Bali Resort Villas & Spa
will feature 134 villas as well as Quan Spa.

Bali Hotels Association recently surveyed its resort members
for a round of “what’s new and improved”
in the island’s hotel sector. Information from that
survey and Bali MICE Initiative research has revealed
the following:

Bali Beach Golf Course in Sanur has
completely redeveloped its nine-hole course. |

Bali Collection Lifestyle & Entertainment
Complex, in Nusa Dua, is an over US$20-million investment
which is destined to be Bali’s new shopping
magnet. |

Bali Dynasty Resort upgraded its Executive
Suites in modern contemporary style with separate
bedrooms, lounges, kitchenettes, and bathrooms.
Large-screen televisions and DVD players have been
added, featuring an extra TV in the bedroom. A giant
56-metre waterslide is a highlight of the Kids’
Club renovations. Featuring the latest equipment
is a new adults-only exercise room. |

BIMC Hospital, an entirely new 1,500
square-metre multi-storied advanced medical facility
is now open. |

Como Shambhala Estate, located in
the Ubud vicinity, made major investments in new
spa facilities. |

Conrad Bali Resort & Spa beefed
up security measures with electronic guestroom locks,
an access control system, panic alarm systems, and
CCTV. |

Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel spent
over US$1 million on upgrades, enlarging the 16
Oceanfront Rooms and installing new wooden patio
furnishings in other rooms. Other new additions
include a new bar and more seating in the renovated
Musro Nightclub and the Bowls Steamboat Restaurant,
as well as a Balinese-style entry gate. Public areas
now have WiFi and increased CCTV security. By mid
2006, all guestrooms will be refitted with new TVs,
bathrooms will be upgraded, lifts modernized, and
more one-bedroom villas added to the property. Adjacent
to the resort, the 89,000 square-metre Discovery
Shopping Mall and a children’s fantasyland
were another US$32-million investment. |

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran
Bay spent US$600,000 on recent renovations. Included
is the world’s only infinity pool for children
and a new glass-fronted wedding chapel for 30 guests.
The Spa Lounge is energized with new soft furnishings
and the resort villas are undergoing continual soft
renovations, due for year-end completion. |

Grand Hyatt Bali will complete multi-million
dollar renovations on its Nusa Dua property, including
the construction of a new ballroom complex in 2006. |

Hard Rock Hotel Bali refurbished one
half of its 418 guest rooms, the kids’ club
and the public toilets, with the balance to be completed
in 2006. A five-metre climbing wall is a new pool
area addition, and the recording-studio sound equipment
has been upgraded. WiFi is now available in public
areas and CCTV coverage has been expanded. |

Hotel Padma Bali recently added two
new breakout rooms for 20 to 60 people to existing
meeting facilities. WiFi is now available in public
areas. DVD players have been added to the Garden
Deluxe Chalets and these rooms and suites will be
completely redesigned by mid-2006. |

InterContinental Resort Bali opened
a new airport arrival lounge for Club InterContinental
guests. Prior to transfer to the resort, arrivals
get to enjoy refreshments in the air-conditioned
lounge while immigrations and customs clearance
proceeds. |

resort jewels, reopened in 2005 after major renovations. |

Maya Ubud installed DVD players, hand-showers
and electronic keys in all rooms. |

Mercure Resort Sanur officially rebranded
and opened in March with all 189 rooms and suites
redesigned and refurnished. The three pools have
been modernized, and bars and restaurants updated
and re-themed. The lobby has been redesigned and
brightened, with a departure lounge added for guests
making resort facilities, pools and showers are
available for these guests on their departure day.
A modern fitness centre, spa, open-air massage huts,
as well as a dedicated ballroom entrance were added. |

Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua Bali remodelled
the 418 square-metre ballroom and function rooms
to double the ballroom’s size and capacity.
Six rooms and suites were also remodelled, with
a complete redesign including wall finishing, furnishings
and décor, featuring wall-mounted flat-screen
plasma TV and entertainment systems. The remainder
of the rooms will be refurbished in 2006. |

represents an important new investment in ultimate
luxury. |

The Legian Bali and The Club at The
Legian spent US$1 million on high-tech and soft
furnishing additions. Bose audio systems and Apple
iPods are featured in each suite and villa. WiFi
is available in public areas. High-security key-lock
systems are on all suite and villa doors. |

The Ritz-Carlton, Bali Resort &
Spa recently opened 38 new Cliff Villas with facilities
in a separate complex, including two restaurants,
two bars, one a Martini club, a wedding pavilion,
a wedding gazebo, a shopping boutique, a two-tiered
swimming pool, and a library with a meeting space. |

The Royal Pita Maha Ubud opened more
villas and a major meeting facility in 2005. |

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali redeveloped
six Ocean View Suites with individual themes reflecting
different regions in Bali. Each suite features broadband
internet and 42-inch plasma TVs with home-theatre
systems. Suites have separate living and dining
rooms. Two-bedroom units have plunge pools and private
gardens, with additional quarters for an assistant. |
